Edward Collins, 34, originally from Petite Savanne, is passionate about the use of art as a means of self-expression. He first picked up a paintbrush while at university in 2017, and has since taken on a variety of media to express his creative vision. These include charcoal and graphite drawings, acrylic and oil painting, chalk, hard and soft pastels, wood carving, stone chiseling, concrete sculpting, mural work, and various forms of performance art such as break-dancing with the first-ever Dominica Break-dancing Association; improv comedy with Dominica’s first Improv Theater group — Mission Improvable — and acrobatics as a member of Dominica’s first circus troupe, Waitu Cirque. He is also the star of the play “Fly on the Wall” written by Dobrene O’Marde and produced by La Cour de Arts de la Dominique.

His drive to grow as a creative pushes him to continue to develop and challenge himself with each new piece. Most of his work has revolved around the themes of perspective and perception and how context affects each, becoming the lens through which we see the world and perceive reality. His main goal is to develop his artistic style to a level that will inspire others to find and explore their own artistic voices.
