Yaena Eugene-Carbon

Secretary (2020 - 2021)

Jewelry, Sculpture, Painting, Decorative Craft

Yaena Eugene-Carbon is a Dominican artist.  She is a self-taught jeweler, and after studying at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Jamaica, holds a Bachelor's degree in Sculpture. She also does painting. As an artist, she goes by the name ‘Yae’. Her works are usually inspired by nature. The natural environment provides endless inspiration which drives her creative process.  She finds herself drawn to the little things that most would overlook or miss entirely.  She tends to take a more abstract and decorative approach with her work, creating papier-mâché sculptures and incorporating jewelry elements in them. Additionally, Yaena is an art teacher at the Goodwill Secondary School, having started in 2019 .

Yaena has been an active member of the Waitukubuli Artist Association (WAA) from its conception in 2018, and has also served as the Secretary from 2020 - 2021. She taken part in art exhibitions held by the association, notably ‘WhoOosh!! (2018)’ and ‘ WhoOosh!! 2’(2020).  She has also participated in other exhibitions held by various artists and Dominica’s Cultural Division.
